"This is a big project for all of us that I believe will be worthwhile in many different ways. It will
teach the boys about the plight and needs of children in other countries, in this instance, Botswana and
Zambia and will give them the chance to support people less fortunate than themselves. In Zambia alone
there are an estimated 1.4 million children, from a population of around 14 million, orphaned as a result
of the AIDS Pandemic that has swept across Southern Africa.
The boys will be able to utilise their skills to work as a team, developed through rugby amongst other things to fundraise towards a common goal. The trip will also be an exciting addition to their final school year and a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience this amazing part of the word in a truly grass roots and non-commercial manner."
"The prospect of being able to change lives fills me with excitement, opportunities like this don’t come
around often. When discussing the trip with Daniel, Sean, Ronan, Callum, Matthew and Elliot we all
agreed and arrived at the conclusion that this trip would be something special!
This will be my 3rd trip to Botswana and for the others it will be their first. Botswana and Zambia are incredible places filled with stunning wildlife and amazing people, sharing this experience with 6 childhood friends will make the trip even more memorable. The challenges and adventures we will face will help us grow as individuals and as a collective group.
The volunteering work that we will do with Home for AIDS Orphans will be an opportunity for us to help those less fortunate than ourselves and support those affected by the AIDS pandemic that swept through Southern Africa. I cannot wait for this amazing experience!"
"The deadly HIV/AIDS epidemic has hit both Zambia and Botswana. Zambia is perhaps the more disadvantaged in its efforts to combat the disease and to deal with its repercussions, one of the saddest of which, is the huge number of children left without parents. Both countries are very dear to my heart, my late wife June grew up in Zambia and we met and married there and our boys were born there. We lived in Botswana for many years and our boys spent their childhood in this peaceful and beautiful country. Botswana has one of the best records in Africa for conserving its wildlife and we will be staying in some of Africa's finest unspoiled game viewing areas. I look forward to sharing this experience with Jimmy and Tiaan's friends."
“I can’t wait to share my first ever trip to Southern Africa with 6 great friends. The Botswana and
Zambia 2019 trip will combine challenge, growth and adventure, all aspects that I am excited about.
I am also very excited about the chance to volunteer with the Home For AIDS Orphans organisation, to meet the people involved and for our team to work together in helping as much as we can. I can’t wait for this life changing experience”
"The trip is an opportunity of a lifetime, Botswana and Zambia are incredible areas of the world to
explore. The African wildlife will be beyond anything I could imagine seeing. To see native wildlife in
their natural habitat will be amazing as will be supporting the Home For AIDS Orphans in
We will head out as a team of 7 great friends and aim to come back as a stronger group of friends for life. I'm excited to share this memorable life moment with the boys and dads involved."
I’m really proud to have the opportunity to travel to Botswana and Zambia next July for a massive
adventure and to be able to help out the local community at Home For AIDS Orphans in
Being able to make the trip along with my son Matthew and his six friends, as well as my friends (and fellow dads) Jimmy, Paul and Roger will make it extra special. I’ve never visited South Africa before. The scenery and wildlife look spectacular."
“The chance to spend a month in Botswana and Zambia was a no brainer for me as these opportunities in life are extremely rare. I can’t wait to set foot on African soil for the first time with a great group of friends. I also hope to play my part in helping the children at the Home For AIDS Orphans where me and the boys will gain life changing experiences”
"I'm absolutely delighted and honoured to be part of the first Africa Youth Experience adventure as a dad-volunteer. It's great to see a group of young men making choices to help those less fortunate than themselves."
“When offered the chance to take part in the Botswana and Zambia trip - which would include 6 of my good
friends - I knew it was an opportunity not to be missed.
It truly is a once in a life time moment to positively impact the lives of those less fortunate than myself.
The volunteering work for Home For AIDS Orphans is extremely exciting as it gives me the chance to gain insight into a life that’s totally different from my own and for each of us to realise how lucky we actually are. I look forward to embarking on this life changing adventure”
“The choice between helping children in Botswana and Zambia for the whole of July or procrastinate my summer away? Easy decision........Spending a month in Africa with my good mates, exploring the wildlife and helping the less fortunate children such as the Home For AIDS Orphans will be a great learning experience for us. Helping these children will not only benefit them but benefit us into realising how fortunate we are and will be a life changing adventure. I look forward to embracing and tackling new opportunities in this challenge.”
"Summer 2019 can not come quick enough as I have been given the opportunity to travel to Botswana and Zambia with a great group of friends. When over there I will be helping children less fortunate than us in the Home For AIDS Orphans in Mwandi, to try to help to create a better living environment for the children. We will also have the chance to explore other things these two places have to offer such as the amazing wildlife. Going on this trip will be a fantastic way to finish of our time at school together and will be an unforgettable experience. I can't wait!"
